Excellent, so last week we were talking about a very simple way to build rapport with somebody is to put your phone away. When you’re talking to somebody, do not look at your phone no matter how much you have the urge to look at it. Don’t, it’s a no no. You’re sending a message out that you’re not interested in the other person, that they’re not worthy of your time. That’s not a message we’re going to send.

Rapid Listening

And I promised to show you a technique for listening. Now, listening is a great skill to develop. I’m going to show you a technique. Now as a technique, any technique, takes a bit of practice. But once you’ve practised this just for the shortest period of time, what will start to happen is you will be able to repeat verbatim whatever anybody says. And you’ll look engaged and interested in the other person and that’s what we want.

We need more engagement and interest. And it’s amazing that if you just listen to somebody, people start to think of you as being charismatic, that you’re interesting. Yes, I know. These simple things that we can do that can make all the difference. Okay, so what’s the technique? Well, I call it rapid listening. Rapid listening. Okay, so here’s how we do it. What I’d like you to do is to listen to me now and start to repeat, inside your head, the words that I’m saying.

And notice, you can repeat the words inside your head, the moment a fraction behind me saying it. And that’s often because we think faster than we speak. That is why most people are waiting to speak and not listening. Now I can speed up, and you can still keep up with me because like I said, you think faster than I speak. And now I’m speaking quite fast and I can say the word plum. You didn’t know I was going to say the word plum but could still say it inside your head.

Now I paused, you didn’t have anything to say because you were no longer waiting to speak, you were paying attention to me. Which gave a natural pause, which then allowed me to carry on speaking, which is a great skill to develop, to allow people to carry on speaking. Whether you’re a coach, a mentor, a manager, a team leader, you name it, all these areas will enable you to be able to use rapid listening and have that natural pause. Now have you noticed, once you start doing it, it’s really hard to stop?

Excellent, so go out and use it. Now initially, like I said right at the beginning, it’s a technique. You won’t remember a lot of what somebody’s just said when you’re starting learning the technique. But once you’ve got it, you’ll be able to repeat verbatim whatever anybody says. Which does mean next time you’re at a meeting, and they’re not called board meetings for no reason. How often have you seen a meeting dissolve in on itself and people just disconnect from it?

Well, you get to the point where you know that you have to pay attention, but your mind is just starting to drift away, use rapid listening. A couple of things will happen, it brings you back into the room. You’ll be focused on the other person. And also, you’ll definitely get brownie points because you’ll be the only person in the room that looks interested in what the person has to say. And it doesn’t matter who they are, they will gravitate towards somebody who’s interested in what they have to say.

Powerful Rapport

This week, we’re going to explore a powerful technique to build rapport with somebody. And if you want to succeed in life, you want to achieve your goals, one of the key skills to master is this ability to connect with other people. And I’m going to show you a very simple technique, that will set you above a lot of other people in this ability to build and connect with other people, i.e. build rapport.

Now what’s happened is as a culture we’ve started to develop an unconscious habit and it has taken over our lives. A lot of times, we’re not even aware that we’re doing it, hence the unconscious habit. Now it wasn’t by accident by any means at all, what has happened is, there have been millions upon millions invested into you to behave like this. And it’s not that we want to get rid of it in any way, well in some ways we do. But it’s not that we want to get rid of it, it’s just that we want to take control back.

And this unconscious behaviour is showing up in meetings, interviews, and it’s happening everywhere we go. So, I’m going to highlight it for you, and it may seem very obvious. But if you follow through with action and just do this one simple thing, when you’re talking to somebody else, you’ll be amazed at the response that you’ll start to get. So, what is it? What is this simple thing that we could all do to help us build better rapport with somebody else? Well when you’re talking to them, do not look at your phone.

I know, isn’t it amazing that how many times, and you’ve probably had this happen to you, you’ve been in conversation with somebody and just very casually, while they’re talking to you, they take out their phone. They’ll look at it and they’ll scroll on it, and they’re not even aware that they’re doing it. Now, what is the message that they’re sending? Probably not doing it consciously, at an unconscious level, what they’re sending is this message, “You’re not interesting. You’re not worthy of my time.” Now, will that build rapport? No, it will not build rapport.

Buzzing and Beeping

So, this one simple thing, that when you’re talking to somebody, regardless of what your phone’s doing, is it buzzing, beeping, flashing lights, ringing, ignore it. In fact, turn it off if it’s an important meeting. I was at a business meeting, and somebody who wanted to do some work with me, was looking at their phone. They did not get the work, I can tell you that. So, turn your phones off. It’s going to be a great way of being able to build rapport with the other person.

Then next week, I’m going to show you a little technique that enables you to listen intently to somebody else. And it’s such a good technique that once you’ve got it, a little bit of practice will be needed, you’ll be able to repeat verbatim what somebody’s just said. So, have a fabulous week. Your Future Self is disciplined

we’ve been looking at certain ways that we sabotage ourselves achieving goals. We looked at the overwhelming goals as goals get too big and too scary and we end up doing nothing. We looked at perfectionism. We looked at starting badly. If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing badly. And we’ve been exploring these ideas that sometimes never talked about around goal setting.
So, let’s carry on that conversation. This week is about your future self. Have you noticed just how perfect your future self is? Your future self is disciplined. Your future self-gets things done. Whereas your present self is often too busy, too tired, got too much going on. I will start my exercise next week on a Wednesday because that way, I will get it done. Or, I’ve got all this work to do but I’m so so tired that I will do over the weekend on a Sunday. I will catch up on everything then.

Yep, your future self is perfect. Your future self has all the energy you’ll ever need, is very disciplined, gets the thing done. And yet, your future self is always in the future. Have you noticed that? Because the Sunday arrives, you’ve got to do the work, and you’re just so tired, so busy, got the family around. You’re going to start the exercise on Wednesday, but something’s happened at work, you have to work late. Well, your future self is going to have all the challenges and problems you have today. You’re going to have to make time.
So, if you’re going to eat healthily, today is the day you start. Doesn’t matter if the whole day you’ve been eating cookies and cakes, and you want to eat healthily, eat an apple. It’s a step in the right direction, it’s momentum. If you’ve got some work today, then organize the work. Get it sorted so that you’re ready to start when you have a bit more time. If you can do five minutes, if you can do ten minutes, if you can do a minute towards your goal today, you create momentum.

And that’s the secret of success. You create momentum in a direction you want to go. So, go ahead, take action. Utilizing discoveries made by Richard Bandler, ‘Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality’ expands and updates our knowledge of how people actually store their memories, and sheds light on the effect that the system used for memory storage has on the individual. The authors contend that the concept of Time Line, or the notion of time that you have stored in your mind, shapes and structures your experience of the world, and therefore shapes your personality. ‘Time Line therapy’ is therefore based on the premise that the client goes back to the first time they remember a particular problem, does change work – utilizing Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to eliminate irritating behaviors or issues – and, if necessary, goes to subsequent times when their behavior or response was a problem, and undertakes further change work to resolve it.

Self Sabotage, Perfectionism plus Goal Setting

Over the last couple of newsletters, we’ve been looking at this theme which is essentially “How do we sabotage ourselves when setting goals?” And even achieving our goals. So, the first week we looked at the excitement of goal setting. Where a goal gets out of hand and grows and grows and grows until we become overwhelmed and end up doing nothing.

And then we looked at the flip side of that, we’ve started a goal and we’re looking at perfectionism and how trying to hold ourselves up to this standard that we’ve set ourselves often backfires on us and the whole goal can crumble around this perfectionism. So, let’s have a look at, what if we’re not starting a goal this week? How come, there’s something we want to do but we can’t get going? And this is based on this idea of perfectionism.
We tend to want to do everything really well the very first time we do something. And that tends to be an adult thing more than anything. So, let’s say something that potentially might upset one or two of you. And it’s this, if something is worth doing, it is worth doing badly. I know! If you’re willing to do something badly, can you improve upon it? Yes, you can! If you’re waiting to do something perfectly, will you ever improve upon it? No.

Perfectionism & Mistakes

So, start making mistakes. Be willing to make mistakes that’s how we grow. Intellectually, we know this, but to do it is often hard. And that’s holding ourselves up to this high standard again. Now, we can take this lesson from many areas. You look at a lot of tech companies. They bring out version one, which is okay, not quite there yet. They get some feedback. They bring out version two which has all the improvements. And they get some more feedback and then version three. And then before you know it, they’ve got a great piece of software, great piece of hardware.

Writers do the same thing. The secret to great writing is to be willing to write badly. Because if you’re willing to write badly, you’ve got something to work on. You’ve got something to give yourself feedback on and then you can improve upon it and improve upon it. So, whatever you’re doing if you’ve been putting it off, unconsciously thinking that you need to be able to do it before you can do it.

You have permission, not that you need my permission, but you have permission to do it badly. Because we need you to be the very best that you can be. Go out and achieve your goals. Start off badly and quickly improve upon it. Give me examples where you started something, you got some feedback, and I’d love to hear your stories.

NLP Being Perfect

 

So, building on that theme where last week we looked at goal excitement. And what I meant by that is that we set a goal, we get excited about setting it so, we up the ante. We make it bigger and bigger and bigger until it gets so big, we become overwhelmed by what we now need to do, that we end up doing nothing. Let’s have a look at being perfect this week.

There’s a real danger of wanting everything to be perfect. So, what do I mean by that? Well, this perfectionism, this standard we’re holding ourselves up to, seems to have no room for failure. So, what do I mean by that? So, let’s say you’ve started a diet and you’ve been very successful. You’re three weeks into the diet, you’ve kept on eating the food that you agreed to yourself to eat and then one morning you’re feeling tired.

There’s an event on at work and you get offered food there and you gorge yourself on all the free food: the cakes, the cookies, the sandwiches. And you think to yourself, “I’ve failed.” And then for the rest of the day you eat just junk food, you eat huge amounts of food because you slipped up once. It doesn’t even have to be that big. You might be out with a friend and they say, “Can I buy you a coffee? Would you like a cake with that?” And you go, “Oh, okay then.” So, you have just one cake and then you think, “I’ve failed.” And then for the rest of the day you eat everything in sight. And the next day you think, “Well I’ve failed my diet”, and you stop dieting.

You’re crazy being perfect

Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But that’s what happens. It’s the same if you’re going, “Okay, I will exercise.” I’m going to exercise four times a week and I will do it on a Monday and on a Wednesday and on a Friday and then on a Saturday. And then you miss a day. You think, I’ve blown my routine for the week and you end up doing no exercise that week. What’s going on here? It’s this perfectionism we hold ourselves up to.

Watch out for that. And what I’d recommend is, give yourself a break. Go easy on yourself. And let yourself sometimes fail. We’re human, you don’t need to be perfect. If you have a cake with a friend, you have a cake with a friend. Just get right back on it, no matter how many times you fall off. Get right back to your goal. Let’s be easy on ourselves.

This book brings together for the first time the recollections and thoughts of some of the main protagonists from the very early days of Nlp. In 1971 when Richard Bandler and Frank Pucelik were students at the University of California Santa Cruz, they both had a strong mutual interest in Gestalt Therapy. Can your goals lead to inaction?

Hello, my name is John Cassidy-Rice. I am the founder of the Professional NLP Practitioner. How have you been this week? I’ve been letting out my inner geek. I have been to Comic Con in London, well a few days ago now. And it’s been great fun. You should see the wonderful costumes and the effort people put in to attend that event. It was excellent. So, I’ve been hanging out with the likes of the Hulk, and Iron Man, Spider Man, Batman. It has been a lot of fun and as you’ll see on the screen, some embarrassing pictures just to show me letting out my inner geek.

Excitement of goal setting

So, what are we talking about this week? We’re exploring the excitement of goal setting. So, what do we mean by the excitement of goal setting? It may not be what you think. It’s dangerous to get too excited about goal setting. Yes, we’ve all heard, aim for the stars and if you don’t hit the stars, you’ll hit the moon. Have those great, big outrageous goals. And you know what, I think we should have those, but they are dangerous sometimes. What do I mean by that?

So, let’s explore the excitement of goal setting. Let’s say you decide for yourself, this month is when I build my online empire, so I will create passive income from the internet. So, I’m going to, let’s say, set a goal of £100 a month of extra income. Well, £100 a month is a little too easy so let’s say £500 a month. Well if I can make £500 a month, why not £1,000 a month? Yeah, that’ll be doable. So, I set a goal for £1,000 a month. And if I’m going for £1,000 a month, why not 5,000? Well if I’m going for 5,000, I bet could generate £10,000 a month. And if that, maybe I could aim for £50,000 a month. And you get all excited about it and then, nothing happens.

You might have had that experience where you go, “Right, I will lose a few pounds.” Maybe my goal is to lose a couple of pounds this month. Well if I’m going to go on a diet, let me aim bigger. Maybe I should aim for, say five pounds. But I reckon I could fordo a stone. I’ve got two or three stone to lose so let’s go. And then next month, I will lose two stones. Wow, how exciting is that? You will have so much more energy. You will be fitter, healthier, and all those wonderful things that come from that. And then what do you do? You reward yourself with some chocolate cake. Nothing seems to change. So, what’s going on?

Well when we hit a goal threshold, and it’s different for different people, a goal threshold, we become overwhelmed with what needs to happen now. And then what happens is nothing. The danger is also from that, it’s not that nothing happens, you slip back. So, the weight loss becomes a little bit of a weight gain. The online money building opportunities cost you more money, and you spend more money.

So, sometimes the smart thing to do is to build your goal setting muscles. What I mean by that is, set yourself a little goal. Achieve the little goal. So, if you can achieve earning your first ten pounds online by selling something, it’s a start. Once you’ve sold one, you could then sell a couple more. And then you build up, you build up and you gain momentum. And in that momentum, something magical happens. Goals become bigger and bigger yourself riding the light beam to the stars.

Hello and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

My name is John Cassidy-Rice. I am the founder of the Professional NLP Practitioner and we’ve been talking about getting ridiculously early in the morning. Yes, 5 am. So, what we discovered is that it’s about passion, living life to the full, and I mean full tilt boogie, getting out of the dawn chorus? to celebrate the new day. So, it doesn’t come around by accident. I changed my diet. As we talked about the benefits, I’ve gotten up early in the morning. And I’ve been asked several times now, I meant to do it last week so I’ll do it this week, is what was the diet change that I made?

So, as I indicated a few newsletters ago, three or four years ago I found myself being a lot larger than I wanted to be. Now, I wasn’t concerned from a looks point of view, but my energy levels were going down and down and down. And what I really wanted to do was to make sure that I had enough energy to be around for my children. My youngest is eight years old and I’ve also got a grandson now. And I want to be around to be able to play with him and he’s now 15 months old. Time flies so fast.

And also training, if you’ve ever done any training to speak in public or record and those types of things take a lot of energy. So, I wanted to maintain that energy. So, the first thing I did was cut out sugar. I lost a lot of weight from doing that so that was a great move. And then I cleaned up my diet overall so really lots of veggies and lots of fruits, those types of things. And here’s my big breakthrough, I started playing with something called intermittent fasting. So, I tried a couple years ago, didn’t really get along with it. Hey, I love eating. What can I tell you?

Intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting, if you haven’t come across it, is that you extend the fast that we all have every day. So, when you sleep, you’re fasting. You’re not normally eating, unless you’re a sleepwalker who likes to eat while they’re sleeping, that’s very rare. Rather than having breakfast in the morning, you’d have maybe breakfast at say 12 or 1:00 and that could be what’s called a sixteen hour fast. And I kind of didn’t really get along with that initially so I then moved out to doing what’s called a 24 hour fast. Now strictly it’s not that you fast for 24 hours and then you eat the next day. The idea is it’s one meal a day.

So, I went to only having one meal a day with the goal to eat for one hour a day but not eat the whole time. By the time you’ve prepared it, it’s an hour and a half. So just casually, it’s not reducing the calorie count, but just eating one meal a day so it was quite a large meal. And it was easier than I thought it was going to be. It really did make a difference. I found myself having more energy during the day, more focus, being able to concentrate. It was great.

And then, what I started to notice was this, hunger is a habit. So, when I used to have my breakfast in the morning, I would get hungry about then I would have a glass of water now and the hunger would disappear. And then at lunch time I would normally have something to eat during the middle of the day so I’d get hungry at that point but then it would go if I’d drink a couple glasses of water and just waited a little bit. So, I concluded, a lot of times the hunger signals are just habits. The stomach’s grumbling, we eat here. Why aren’t we eating? But just because we normally eat then doesn’t mean we’re actually hungry. So, that one meal a day, freed up a lot of time during my day but gave me that side effect of having to be able to get up early in the morning. Yeah, this is a great side effect.

5am Morning

Now, I’m not advocating this. I’m not saying that you’re going to have to go and do this if you want to get up at 5 am in the morning, there are other ways that we could get the energy to do that. I’m just saying this is what happened for me. So if you have any experience of intermittent fasting, or you’ve been on one meal a day for a while, I would love to hear your experiences. Hello and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

My name is John Cassidy-Rice. So, over the last few newsletters, we’ve been talking about getting up at 5 am in the morning naturally, not artificially. And we talked about last week Richard Branson’s passion for getting up early because this is the stuff life is made of is your time here. Life is not a dress rehearsal, live it full tilt boogie! And I think that’s part of the celebration of getting up at the dawn chorus?

So, what would you do with all that extra time? Because if you had an extra two hours during the day, let’s say you normally get up at 7 but you now get up at 5 am in the morning, that’s an extra two hours a day. Well, if you were doing that would be an extra 14 hours a week, but if you average that over a year, that’s an extra 30 days every year. That’s an extra month a year. What would you do with that time?

Well, what do I do with the time that I’m doing that? So, one of the things I’ve started to do is exercise six days a week with one day off now. And so, what I’ve been doing is that I need to find something that I can do anywhere in the world because as I travel a lot I find myself in hotel rooms. And not every hotel has a hotel gym. And I also find myself in the airports and waiting around so I’ve always been looking for something that I could do.

So, I’ve started to use body weight exercises. So, if you’ve not come across body weight exercises before, they’re great because you don’t need any equipment except for one exercise I discovered. So, it’s things like push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, handstands, those types of things. So, over the last few months, I’ve managed to get up to a hundred push-ups, I know. I don’t it doesn’t show but I can get up to a hundred push-ups. And I also do about 30 pull-ups, that’s the only bit of equipment you would ever need, is something so you can pull yourself up on. And so, squats I do around about 120 squats and it doesn’t take too long to do these things.

Now handstands, I don’t know if you’ve done any handstands recently, well they are one of the most difficult things I’ve ever come across. Now I know this is not politically correct to say this but little girls do handstands, so in my mind, it should be fairly straightforward. Ah, it’s taken me ages. I’m now up to 60 seconds handstands. And as, if you read some of my newsletters a couple of years ago, I started doing that a little while ago but I did pull my back so I had to stop doing that. But wow, handstands. The other thing I tend to do is a plan, I plan my day out. So, not only am I starting the day out with a) some time for myself and looking out for myself but also planning the day out so I become more productive. And as you know, a number of children I have are just ridiculous, so those extra two hours while everybody else is asleep, has proven to be good quality time for myself, which is really important.

The 5 am wake up call

Hello and welcome to the NLP Newsletter. 

 Last week’s newsletter I got a lot of questions which seemed to boil down to this, tell me more about getting up at 5 in the morning, and what do you do with that time and why would you do it? And tell me about the diet. So, let’s start to explore some of that. Let’s explore one of those. My goal is to keep these newsletters short so this may be a two or three-part newsletter. Let’s see how it goes. But if you’ve got any questions about any topics, do then post them here. 

So, what am I talking about? In last week’s newsletter, I was talking about changing my diet, and I had this side effect of waking up at 5 in the morning. Well, it starts off at 6 am, then 5:30 am, and now it hovers between 5 am and 5:30 am. I’m talking about naturally, not using an alarm clock. So why do we want to get up earlier? Now there’s no real science that backs any of this up, but there seems to be a lot of very successful people who get up very early in the morning. 
Now one of the best reasons I’ve come across getting up early in the morning was Richard Branson. Now Richard Branson’s done a few things in his life that’s been let’s say a little bit successful. So, he may be a good role model. And one of the things he was talking about is, he says, he doesn’t get up at 5 am because he’s got a ton of work to do. He does have a ton of work to do, but he didn’t get up for that reason at that time. And he says, it’s not even to brag to people of how hardworking he is. Nonono, no. He says he gets up at 5 am because life is exciting. And he says, it’s all born out of this disease he calls passion. 

When you’re passionate about life, why would you not get up early? Join the morning chorus to celebrate a new day. Now it does help if you have your own private island, I get that. So, that makes a lot of sense to me. Now one of the key things is, if you force yourself to get up early in the morning, in my opinion, you could do more damage and harm because sleep is important to us. So, we’re not talking about less sleep, so it does make sense to go to bed earlier so that you can wake up earlier in the morning. So, it’s about that passion in life, and that really resonated with me. And even though I’d never really set up to get up at 5 am in the morning, well to be fair I did once. 

I read a book called “The Miracle Morning” which I thought was a great book. Full of promise and all the benefits, and the first morning I tried it, slept right through. The second morning, I did wake up and then went back off to sleep. So, I couldn’t use willpower. Willpower is not infinite, you have limited amounts of it. So, this side effect of this diet has just been great. It’s naturally occurred, and I’m really starting to reap the benefits. So, I would love to hear how you have been getting up at 5 am in the morning, that’s if you do. And how did you go about doing it? Or is it something that you would wish to do? And have got any questions that I could answer for you. 
Also, do you disagree with it at all? I think it’s important because there are people called night owls. And that people are more productive during the evenings. 

Now, just because you’re more productive during the evenings doesn’t mean you can’t get up in the morning. Just because you get up early, doesn’t mean you can’t be more productive in the evenings. So, there’s no right or wrong to any of this. But I’d love to hear your experience and your thoughts. Please post your comments below. And as always, I put a transcript below of this video and keep in touch! Until next week, have a wonderful week.

What’s new with you? Well what’s new with me is that I discovered a side effect to changing my diet which has now been going on for two or three months I think is here to stay. Now over the last three or four years I’ve been playing with diets, my energy levels were going down as I was becoming bigger. And I need a lot of energy for what I do. I’ve got five kids and I’m on the second generation, I’ve got a grandchild. I’m nearly 50 now so I wanted to keep my energy up.

So, I’ve been tweaking and playing with diet. And a recent change I made has a surprising side effect. Which is, I’ve been getting up earlier and earlier in the morning. So first off, it was about 6 am, then about 5:30 am and now I hover between 5 am and 5:30 am. Now, I’ve not set out to do this. I do not use alarm clocks. I naturally wake up, get up and ready for the day. Which has been great because you never what changes you make to your life, how they are going to impact and lead you to new areas.

Which leads us on to the topic of the day, creativity. Creativity matters in all walks of life. Now it makes sense for the arts. Music, writing, creative writing, poetry, painting, sculpting, all those wonderful things. But if you want to be an entrepreneur, creativity is key to that. If you work within any business setting, you’re coming up with challenges and problems constantly. And if you always do the same thing, you’ll get the same results, which is the definition of madness which I believe is from Einstein. So, we need to do something different in those situations to get a different outcome. And also, if you have children, or if you have parents. So, creativity when dealing with people can really make the difference.

So, what stops us as humans from becoming creative? Live the same day over and over again. So, what do I mean by that? Well, if you watch the same TV programs. If you do the same walks with the dog every day, read the same books, if you go to the cinema once a week, if you do the same things day in and day out, week in week out, year in year out, life passes you by. Creativity gives us spice of life. If you always go on holiday in the same place, so what I’m saying is your life becomes a rut. Creativity reduces down and the reason that is because you got no new input. Creativity relies on new information.

A clue to this was when I came across a friend of mine, Mark Fox.

Mark Fox was one of the youngest engineers at NASA. He worked on the Challenger. It wasn’t his fault it exploded. One of the ways that he keeps himself creative, he will read books on topics he knows nothing about. So, maybe it’s a book on knitting, maybe putting on make-up, fishing, trains, and then he’ll go to workshops. And the workshops could be on any subject, how to do screenwriting for example. Not because he wants to become a screenwriter, it’s just something he hasn’t done before.

Then maybe going to the theatre and seeing shows you wouldn’t normally see, going to the cinema and seeing films you wouldn’t normally see, watching documentaries or TV programs you wouldn’t normally see. So even if it is the Jeremy Carl Show, I know, it’s all new input. So, when you put new information in your unconscious mind has new information to act upon. And you never quite know what difference it’s going to be.

So, if you truly want to live an outrageous week, you probably need to expose yourself to some new information. Do something different. If you’ve never taken a full NLP Practitioner, go ahead and take it. If you haven’t done a hypnotherapy course, go ahead and take it. And if you haven’t done an ILM Coaching Level 5 course, does this sound like a sales pitch? It probably is. But as you know, we’ve got some courses coming up and it would be great to see you there because they’re new ways of approaching life. So, have an outrageous week until next time. I’ll see you soon.

NLP Newsletter Week One October

Hello and welcome. My name is John Cassidy-Rice. I’m the founder of the professional NLP Practitioner and this is our new format newsletter. Yes, we’re going to film them and there will also be transcriptions below and if there’s enough demand, we’ll also pull out a podcast of it. These are going to be short, no more than three to five minutes long but filled with content.

Well, this particular one is going to be filled with news. As it is a newsletter, we ought have some news every now and again. So, I’m going to keep you up to date with everything that’s going on but I really invite you to give me some feedback on how the videos are working and if the formats are working for you.

Good, so what are some of the news that we have? We have a whole batch of them. So, let’s do the easy ones first. So, we have released the dates for next year’s training. I know, how exciting this is? So, we’ve got the dates for the NLP Practitioner next year. We also have a brand-new course accredited for the National Council of Hypnotherapist It’s a 21-day course and it’s for people who are keen to become a hypnotherapist and add that string to their bow so that they can make a living from what they love doing. We’ve released the dates for that. More information will be coming as we start to get momentum behind this new course.

Now one of the things I’m asked a lot, are we going to run another live ILM level 5 Coaching and Mentoring course? And yes, yes we are. You’re welcome. Now, even if you have a qualification in coaching and you would like a very credible qualification especially if you’re thinking of going into the corporate sector. I highly recommend the ILM training. This is going to be a live training and the dates have been released. Be one of the first to grab your spot.

So what else is going on? Well, I’ve been busy working away in the background writing a book. Yeah, I know! And I’m dyslexic so there’s hope for all of us. So, the book is called, “Unlocking the Power of Stories: Change your story, change your life.” It’s an in-depth look about some of the theory behind why storytelling works so well for transformation. And then it’s direct application of where you can use stories in your life for changing your beliefs, for getting more work. How do you design a story that has impact and resonance.

All goes to plan and the stars align and the publishers get everything sorted, it should be late October when that is released. And like always, I’m going to keep you up to date with that book release. So that’s the news. I’m going to keep this short. I’m really keen to hear your feedback about the videos, the video newsletters and how else can we serve you?
